Walking Tour of Rome (continued):

Polizia (left) and Gelato Store (right):

In all of the major Piazzas, Polizia (Police) would be stationed to help keep people out of trouble. I am not sure if they did much, because it seems that the Romans took their awesome monuments for granted. They would treat these ancient monuments poorly, like putting their cigarette butts out on the ancient city wall, and the Polizia would not do anything about that.

Right beside the Pantheon, Kristi and I tasted our first Gelato. Gelato is similar to ice cream, but it is less creamy. It really is the best ice cream in the world.

Shopping District:

There is a lot of shopping in Rome, but this is the official Shopping District. You can find anything you want here, including the Disney Store and McDonalds.

Spanish Steps:

The Shopping District leads directly to the enchanting Spanish Steps. At the foot of the Steps is Piazza di Spagna. At the top of the Steps is the church of the Trinita' dei Monti. To the side of the famous Steps is the Spanish Embassy and the Column of Immaculate Conception.

Once the sun starts to set, the Spanish Steps become very crowded with people resting from shopping, walking, etc. or with people just wanting a cool place to relax. Kristi and I took the opportunity to take a picture where Audry Hepburn sat eating her Gelato in "Roman Holiday".
