Roman Forum:

Right beside the Colosseum is the Roman Forum. This was the political, religious, legal, and administrative center of ancient city of Rome. The Roman Forum was just recently excavated (within the last century). Before that, it was covered by fields and other structures. There are still a lot of areas covered by modern roads and buildings, but they cannot be removed because the city would not be able to accommodate the large amount of people visiting or living in Rome otherwise.

* The Temple of Venus and Roma is Rome's most sacred church. True Romans do not care for the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica. They come here to get married, to worship, etc.
* Circus Maximus is where the famous Chariot Races were held. It is said that the circus could hold 250,000 spectors. It is located in the valley between the Palatine and Aventine Hills.
* The Trajan Market is the first known "mall". It is the best preserved of ancient Roman urban environments.
* The Arch of Constantine is the largest and best preserved arch in Rome. It was created after the General's victory over the Emperor Maxentius in 312 AD. All the columns, friezes, relieves, and statues were taken (stolen) from other monuments.
* The Arch of Titus was erected after the Emperor's death in 81 AD to celebrate his victory over the Judeans and the conquest of Jerusalem.
